A French 18 karat (18K) yellow gold pendant designed as a triskel, triskelion or triskeles (an ancient motif showing three spiralling arms extending from a central point) set with a round old-cut diamond to the centre weighing approximately 0.22 carats. Stamped with the eagle mark for 18 karat gold and French manufacture along with an unknown maker's mark and a partial signature for Pierre Toulhoat.
The triskelion (triskel or triskeles) symbolises the cycle of life, death and rebirth; the spiritual journey towards enlightenment, and the voyage of the soul in the afterlife.
Pierre Toulhoat was a French artist (b.1923, d.1914) inspired by Breton and Celtic motifs.
