An antique French 18 karat (18K) yellow gold charm pendant designed as an oval medal depicting the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ as the Madonna and Child on one side, with the inscription 'N D de Gray Priez Pour Nous' (Our Lady of the Basilica of Gray, pray for us). The reverse depicts a guardian angel protecting a child on the other side, with the inscription "O S Ange Gardien Soyez mon Guide" (Ô Saint Ange Gardien Soyez mon Guide) meaning 'oh guardian angel, be my guide. Stamped with the eagle's head for 18 karat gold and French manufacture.
