A French 18 karat (18K) yellow gold, diamond and ruby square love charm pendant with a rebus spelling out "Plus qu'hier, moins que demain" ("More than yesterday, less than tomorrow") - a line taken from the love poem written by Rosemonde Gerard to her husband (the author of Cyrano) in 1889.
The word "plus" is symbolised by a gold plus sign set to the centre with a round single cut diamond weighing approximately 0,01 carats, and the word "moins" by a minus sign set with three rectangular cut synthetic rubies with a total carat weight of approximately 0.09 carats.
Signed A.Augis, stamped with the eagle's head for French manufacture and Augis' makers mark. The reverse is engraved 'Louis a Jeanne' and the dates 3.8.49 and 3.8.82.
