An unmarked 18 carat gold brooch formed as a gently curving arch with three steps up to the central panel which is channel set with 9 step cut rubies.
The clean lines of this design accompanied by the 3-dimensional curved form anchors this brooch in the later part of the Art Deco movement, when designers were turning to more industrial motifs with pared back forms.
Although this brooch is unmarked, it is attributable to Ghisò in its design and form.
The rubies are estimated to weigh approximately 4.50 carats in total and are a fine pigeon’s blood red colour.
The brooch measures 5.5cm x 1.8cm (2.2 x 0.75 inches) and weighs 15.54g.
