A rare French 18 karat (18K) yellow gold, diamond and ruby love charm pendant with a ruby halo. The rebus spells out "Plus qu'hier, moins que demain" ("More than yesterday, less than tomorrow") - a line taken from the love poem written by Rosemonde Gerard to her husband (the author of Cyrano) in 1889.
The word "plus" is symbolised by a plus sign set with five rose-cut white diamonds with a total approximate weight of 0.05 carats, and the word "moins" by a minus sign set with three rectangular-cut synthetic rubies with a total carat weight of approximately 0.09 carats.
The love token is surrounded by a synthetic ruby halo containing 29 trapeze-cut rubies - a rare feature in this desirable range of pendants.
Signed A.A., stamped with the eagle’s head for French manufacture and Augis' maker's mark. The reverse is engraved with the monogram YG or GY.
Dimensions: 2.1 x 1.8 x 0.16 cm (not including jump ring)
Weight: 2.84 grams
